Barney GoodmanMy day tends to start around 6:30am with breakfast and a chat with my 4 year old. After that I’ll check emails for anything that needs immediate attention before getting on the road to see my clients. I cover the whole of the South East, so planning is essential for a successful day, but as I love driving travelling all those miles is never an issue.

My first meeting is usually around 9am depending on the location, and I try to see three to four retailers per day. What I enjoy about being a Business Development Manager is the sheer variety of businesses that I work with — I can be running a training session with a hot tub retailer in the morning and then hold a management meeting at a kitchen showroom in the afternoon.

The most enjoyable element for me is being able to visit clients, help develop a credit strategy, get it implemented and then watch them reap the benefits in terms of turnover, average order values and conversion rates.

After a long day on the road I usually get home between 6-7pm and then squeeze in some admin in the late evening.
