The UK window & door fabrication market is only mildly optimistic according to new research from AMA.  The strong performance seen throughout 2013 to 2016 has started to flatten out in 2017.

Competition remains intense in the current challenging economic environment, and therefore growth prospects are reported to be modest.   Many fabricators have responded by broadening their offering with alternative materials, colours and styles, as well as improving thermal efficiency and security features.

Demand for residential windows has been largely driven by the replacement sector and while growth has generally slowed, the demand for entrance doors has been sustained.

AMA stated: “…the prospects for this industry in the short-medium term remain challenging with little or no growth forecast for 2018-19 as the economy remains volatile with uncertainty over short-term prospects.  Longer term, the outlook is mildly optimistic with lower growth forecast than in previous years but for a return to average growth of around 2-3% towards the end of the forecast period.”
