A new report by lifestyle website Houzz.co.uk has found we update our kitchens, on average, every 13 years. The research, which included a survey of more than 2,800 homeowners from across the UK and Ireland, also found that people planning to redesign their kitchens in 2015 are making significant investments:
- 48% are budgeting £5k to £20k for their project;
- 21% estimate spending £21k to £40k; and
- 1% have set a budget in excess of £100,000.
And it’s no surprise that we’re so keen to invest, with most of us spending around 12% of our lives in our kitchens.
Creating space is also high on homeowners’ agenda, with the majority looking for an open plan design, and over a fifth, of those surveyed, plan to add an extension.
